About Us

The Community Aid for Fisheries and Agriculture Development (CAFAD) Organization is a non-profit organization dedicated to respecting and protecting wildlife while supporting the livelihoods of local fishing and farming communities.

Founded in 2012, CAFAD emerged from a desire to find a compassionate balance between conservation and community development. For too long, the needs of wildlife and the needs of people have been pitted against each other. We believe these goals can coexist in harmony.

Key Focus Areas

  • Providing training, equipment and access to markets to support sustainable small-scale fishing and farming
  • Partnering with communities on wildlife conservation initiatives they can take pride in
  • Funding schools, clinics and other essential services to uplift local standards of living
  • Educating children and adults about environmental awareness and responsibility
  • Researching innovative approaches that benefit both vulnerable species and indigenous groups
  • Facilitating open dialogues between government bodies and community leaders

At CAFAD, we believe that long-term change starts from within communities. Our locally-driven approach empowers people to become guardians of their lands while still earning the livelihoods they deserve. When communities are listened to and given the tools to thrive, they become deeply motivated to protect the habitats they depend upon.

Our Goal is to help and develop the distressed, needy, neglected and vulnerable people in South Sudan socially and economically by providing them necessary assistance for sustaining their lives and conditions specially the women and children as well.

We invite you to learn more about our projects across the region and how you can get involved. Together, we can build a future where conservation and community development reinforce each other for the good of all.
