Organization Background

The Community Aid for Fisheries and Agriculture Development – (CAFAD) is a local non-political, nonprofit Organization. It has been established since 2012 by a group indigenous South Sudanese to chart a common future in midst of social, political and economic turbulence.
This Local NGO was formed according to the willingness of the community people in a view to deal with the present socio-economic problems in different villages of Jonglei by means of good understanding and sharing the problems each other and to find out the best way of solving the problems through free discussion and people participation in the decision making and get-together under an umbrella of CAFAD Organization. The organization has since grown into a reputable NNGO within its spectra implementing emergency programs in partnerships with other like-minded national and international organizations, individuals, local authorities and national government.

Purpose

As indigenous professionals on humanitarian sectors and capacity buildings, the founders of the organization felt that there was an urgent need for interventions and they had the ability to access the grass roots and act as a bridge between the suffering and desperate local communities and the UN agencies, international organizations, well-wishers and charities that are willing to help the South Sudanese. This was the philosophy behind the establishment of CAFAD South Sudan.
